REVIEW 4 STARS

This book is an intense read, but Brooklyn Taylor did a great job of writing it.

Best friends Callie and Madison have been through a lot together. They even married best friends. One marriage is happy and one is not. Madison is envious of Callie and Blake's marriage, they love each other after 10 years of being together. Blake worships Callie.

Madison feels very neglected in her life with her husband, Hunter she feels like he doesn't even see her. Madison takes a step that gives her the passion she's been missing but doing so she's not only risking her marriage and family but her friendship with Callie.

It's hard to put my thoughts down on this book without giving to much of it away. It's a love story between couples and friends. But there are different types of love in marriages. There is deep love and I think love that may not run as deep in order to hold a marriage together. There's a couple of shockers in the book that leave you wondering, how can all of this be fixed. It's a great read with real life issues.

An Ordinary Me by Author Brooklyn Taylor

SYNOPSIS:

From the outside looking in Garrison Davis seems like every other senior in high school. On the inside though, he’s an emotional wreck promising to not love anyone. He chooses to protect himself by vowing solitude. His dad is in prison for dealing drugs; his mother is a recovering addict and an emotional mess. The only thing that brings him joy is playing the drums and that feeling of being needed by his band. It is his escape, his passion. No one gets hurt or disappointed.  That is until he lays his eyes on Reese at school. She is the exact example of what he cannot let himself get involved in. He would do nothing but drag her down with him.

“I want to tell her and show her how much I love her. I had loved her from the first time I spotted her in that courtyard smiling but I can’t, I won’t. She deserves so much more than I can offer. I’m the spawn of a drug dealer and an addict. I have never let myself love another person and now…  I love her so much it hurts.”

Reese Owens is the exact opposite of Garrison. Inside she’s beaming; growing up in a happy home and on the outside she was a duck out of water. Her parents are the over protective set but are finally loosening the jail bars. Sophomore year in high school, she has never dated a boy and is envious of the social life her best friend Autumn Welch has. She meets Garrison and is instantly attracted to him. He pulls away when she pushes in. A whole new world opens up to Reese and she finds herself falling into situations she can’t get herself out of. Making bad decision after bad decision, she finds out the hard way on how life is full of choices.  The one thing she wants more than anything is Garrison’s attention which she doesn’t get in return.

“How is it possible to love someone and keep it quiet? Never to utter those very words knowing he doesn’t feel the same way. I finally fall in love and he only wants to be friends. He is everything I have always wanted and he keeps me at a distance making sure we don’t get too close. How can I ignore my feelings and act like I don’t have them when we are around each other? How do I resist the urge to move my lips towards his when he is talking to me?”

Garrison realizes he has to be honest with Reese and tell her how he really feels before he loses her for good. Just maybe, he will get love in return for the first time in his life. When he finally convinces himself to come forth, a life changing event occurs that could take away the only person in his life that truly loves him.

Is it too late? Does he get the chance to tell her? And when he confesses does it matter?

An Ordinary Me
YA Romance

This is a deeply moving YA book, about two high school students. One Garrison Davis who is a senior and should be having the best year of his life and Reese Owens a young girl who is discovering what high school is about, along the way these two people will meet and it will set them on a course that changes both of their lives.

Garrison is an amazing character, you are drawn to him from the very beginning. His home life has not been easy. Garrison's father is in prison and his mother is a drug addict. He has so much to deal with in his daily life. Garrison wants a better life for himself and is determined to leave his painful past behind.

Reese, I loved her she is every young girl in high school, always thinking that she doesn't look good enough or thinking of herself as a just an ordinary girl. Reese comes from a loving family, very different from Garrison. She always has her friend Autumn by her side who is completely opposite of Reese. Over the years Reese has had a crush on a boy she grew up with, Cannon, I'm not going to tell you about him you have to read the book...

Something happens that brings these two together, Garrison really is a knight in shining armor, but he doesn't think he's good enough for Reese, she thinks he's perfect, loyal and caring.

I will say it one more time and I hope you really hear me. To love someone, truly love them, inside and out is a once in lifetime opportunity. If you pass it up you will regret it.” An Ordinary Me

There are so many things that I loved about this book it really captures the feelings of being a young teenager in high school, today. I loved how the author added in two teachers who were mentors to Garrison. This book is a heartfelt story with a good message on how you can over come any obstacle in your life and how two people can grow together and teach each other what love and family really means. It's a book that a teenager and adult would love.

EXCERPT:

In the amount of time it took me to get that out of my mouth Kyle had me pinned to the bed and was kissing me. He kissed my lips, then he nibbled on my ears and slid his tongue down my neck to my breasts. He was moving in slow motion and although it felt amazing I was getting impatient. Kyle loved to tease me and actually got a high off it.

Normally I can detain myself knowing the outcome was going to far outweigh the frustration, but tonight I didn’t know if I was going to be able to. I pulled at his underwear and he backed up so I couldn’t reach him.

"Grace, let me love on you." He growled at me.

I made a pouty face and whined.

He finally reached my stomach and licked down to the top of my thong teasing me and came back up to my lips.

"Seriously Kyle. Get your ass back down there now."

I heard a husky laugh and it made me wet just hearing it. Damn he is sexy!

He gently moved my thong to the side while sliding his tongue along the top careful to not touch my clit with it.

"These are my favorite panties… well, that’s a lie. I love all your panties. I love the way they look on you, but I love the way they look off of you the most." He cupped my ass and squeezed with one hand.

He took his finger and moved the thong out of my opening from front to back. He rubbed back and forth where I could feel his finger in my wetness between me and my thong.

"You wet, in this black thong that was made for your sexy body, is what I want to think about every night when I go to bed."

He slowly licked my clit and then looked up at me from my center.

"What do you want to think about at night before going to bed?"

"Your dick getting in me now!"

"Patience Gracie. I want to taste you."

"Hurry the hell up will ya? You are teasing me to no end and I know you’re enjoying every bit of it."

He growled at me as he began taking care of me. He buried his face in me and took me to total ecstasy and didn’t stop until he knew I was completely spent.

He lifted his head and smiled as if he was just as satisfied as I was.

"You happy now?"

"Hell yes, but we aren’t done. I want you in me now!"

I got on my hands and knees and he got behind me. He guided himself in my opening and started to take me to heaven once again. He filled me completely as he began entering and exiting making sure to hit the spot he knew I loved. I couldn't get enough of him. It was as if every time he entered me he was erasing the hurt that we had been through. Kyle and I making love was making it all better.
