BOOK BLITZ for KISMET by Author A.E. Woodward

Synopsis:

Katie’s world came crashing down in an instant.

Her husband, daughter, and unborn baby. . . all gone in a flash. The life that she’d come to know, gone before she ever really got to live it.

With a broken heart, she deals the only way she knows how, by shutting it all off. No communicating, no feelings, just pure nothingness.

Alone with nothing but her own thoughts and a well meaning family, she moves back to her childhood home, a horse farm. It’s there that she finds herself healing along with the horses her family rehabilitates. But when Parker McKenzie comes back into her life she’s reminded of all that went wrong, and all that she lost.

Will Katie ever begin to heal? Or will her secrets and loss be too much for her to overcome?

Perhaps, this is her kismet.

Excerpt:

“I brought you something,” he says, pushing himself back with his legs, allowing himself room to dig into his jean pocket. After a moment he pulls out what appears to be a black string and dangles it between his thumb and forefinger. Three silver squares catch the remaining sunlight and I suck in a hasty breath, snatching it from him. Cradling it in my hands I look down at that all too familiar bracelet.

I revel in amazement. I completely forgot about this bracelet—the one that Parker gave me when I was six, during the first time episode of anxiety and mutism. I’d just started school and had completely shut down. He gave it to me in the hope that it would give me the strength I needed. He even took the time to pick out the sterling silver squares with the letters K, T and P on them.

“I thought maybe if you knew that Tommy and I were always with you then you might feel a little stronger and you might start talking again,” he says as he ties the string around my wrist.

I smile as he fumbles with the strings. “Dad made me change a lot of oil so that I could buy this for you, Katie. I hope you like it.”

I want to tell him I love it but I can’t muster the strength, even though he’s tried to give me all he can. Instead, I thank him the only way I know how. Once he’s finished tying it, I throw my arms around him and hold on tight.

I vowed that day to never let him go. But I had, and my world went to shit because of it. He takes the bracelet from my hand and ties it around my wrist while I stare at him, completely dumbfounded. “When I got the call, I dug around for it,” he explains. My face flushes with embarrassment as I remember throwing it in his face not so long ago. “I thought maybe you could use a little strength today.”

Sail: Book Two in the Wake Series by Author M. Mabie

magic size

Sail

Book Two in The Wake Series

by M. Mabie

Releasing Early 2015

Synopsis:

This isn’t just a two-year long one-night stand. It’s my life. This is my life. Our life. It isn’t just some careless affair. I’ve made the worst decisions a woman could, but I’ll earn my second chance. She can try keeping all the guilt for herself, but I’m just as much to blame. Loving Casey wasn’t my biggest mistake. Fighting it for so long was. I’ll show her how fearless our love makes me. I’ll protect her torn heart. He still has magic in his eyes. He’s the man who makes me happy. Her voice still brings me to my knees. She says my name like it’s sacred. I live for the day when I’m his. To take care of him. To love him the way he deserves. I can’t wait to be all she needs. I can give her a happy life, security and so much love. Sometimes two ships never meet in the night, but ours did. Sometimes the water is rough. It beats you all to hell until you have no choice but get stronger. Our love story reads more like a tragedy, but to me it’s clean and pure. Let them point their fingers. Without a love like ours, they haven’t really lived. I pity them. I’m a cheating wife and a villain. I am his honeybee. I’m a snake in the grass and I sleep best when I’m lying next to his wife. I want to be his everything. I’m nothing without her anyway. This isn’t even close to over. It’ll never be over.

Sail is the second book in the continuing Wake Series. For more information on the first book in the series see the link for Bait below.

Interview with Author Libby Austin

  1. Tell us a little about yourself.
Hmm Not much to tell. I’m a wife and mother who’s obsessed with books. My favorite color is green, I love crime shows but have a weak stomach, I have a very dry sense of humor, and I’m a Dr. Pepper addict.

  1. Your book Through Infinity, what is it about?
Through Infinity is about a family coming together when one of them is in need. The overall theme would be ‘does love reside in our heads or our hearts’.

  1. Where did the idea for your book come from?
The idea for the book came from my son. My husband had been working out of town for several weeks. He came home for a surprise visit. Our son ran up to him and said, “Hi, Dad! Do you remember me?” Of course my husband said yes, but I wondered what would happen if you didn't remember, and from there, Through Infinity was written.

  1. The children in the book, their characters where amazing, and Dawson I think will have a special place in readers hearts. Can you tell us about Dawson and is he based at all on someone?
Dawson is probably the only character who’s really based on a real person. He’s based on my son and the son of my editor. Both of our boys are on the spectrum. I took some of the characteristics from each of them and created Dawson.

  1. Do your characters talk to you?
No, they really don’t. It’s more like I see what happens between them.

  1. How difficult was it to write about Candice's recovery?
Candice was a difficult character to write because she’s very self-contained and like most people, she had some thoughts she didn't want to acknowledge. She’s not very vocal in her feelings and she felt a lot of shame for not “automatically” loving her family. I think that’s a struggle some new mothers, and fathers, deal with. Loving someone, even your child, isn't always automatic. A lot of parents feel judged for that and guilty for that, so it was something I wanted to highlight.

It was difficult, in a sense, to keep it true to a story of a family coming together without sensationalizing it and turning it into a soap opera. When I wrote through infinity, it felt like most of the “drama” I could add was contrived and really didn't fit with the story, so I kept it true to the story line I envisioned.

  1. What authors have inspired you?
Too many to name. Even authors of books that I didn't connect with inspired me because they took the step to put their work out there for judgment. But to name a few:
Nora Roberts
Debbie Macomber
Johanna Lindsey
Annette Broaderick
Kelly Elliott
Aleatha Romig
Anne Elliot
But most of all, Lois Faye Dyer.

  1. Talk about your cover, where did the idea come from and who designed it?
Awe the cover. I could probably write a book on that alone. Lol When I came up with the concept of the cover, I knew it wanted the infinity symbol on it with a color scheme of gold and/or silver. I didn't want the infinity symbol to be broken, but it needed something to highlight the tension of the story. One night, as I lay in bed (which is when all great ideas seem to appear), the idea of missing puzzle pieces came to me. I passed that on to the cover designer I was working with at the time. When I received the cover mock-up from the designer it was nothing like I envisioned. It had a very somber tone to it, and while through infinity deals with a somewhat somber subject, the overall tone of the book is hopeful, or at least I hope it is.

After seeing that mock-up, I knew I wanted what I was envisioning to capture the story. I approached a different designer with my concept. I had figured out that I wanted something to represent her family as the missing pieces of the puzzle, but I didn't want faces and I didn't want silhouettes because they just didn't convey emotion. That night I was going somewhere and I put on my charm bracelet, and the light bulb turned on, which is where the pictures under the missing puzzle pieces came from.

The next issue was the positioning of the infinity symbol itself. Normally the infinity symbol is orientate horizontally, but that left too much blank space on the cover, so we turned it. Turning it, to me, kind of represented how Candice’s world had shifted.

Than as you see in the book with the chapter headers, the puzzle becomes filled in as Candice gets to know her family, which is why the back cover is a completed puzzle. The puzzle pieces, along with the colored background, also represent another sub‑storyline in through infinity.

Overall, the cover has been well received. I find that those who didn't like it before they read the book, love it once they've finished. Choosing not to put a ‘standard’ cover on it was a risk, but I wanted the cover to really represent the story, and story isn't about sex, although there’s chemistry.

Nathan with Nate’s Art did the final cover. He did a great job of turning my vision into reality.

  1. Do you have a special time of the day you like to write?
I would probably write more at night if I could, but my early morning alarm clocks don’t cooperate with that schedule.

  1. What has been the hardest thing about writing?
Writing wasn't hard. Writing something that was coherent that people would want to read was hard. It’s everything that comes after writing that’s hard.

  1. Will there be a follow up book to Through Infinity?
There will be one more book and a novella for the Woodruffs. The free holiday novella will be released during my blog tour 12/29 – 1/9, and then as a complete novella afterward. Jason’s POV will be told in & beyond… There will be scenes that the reader didn't get in through infinity. Jason had his own struggles that weren't shown in through infinity. That was a conscious decision on my part because I felt that the reader wouldn't empathize as much with Candice and how lost she felt if they had all of the same knowledge Jason had.

SPOILER ALERT: Candice and Jason are together and they will stay that way, so I can’t imagine another story for them.

  1. Do you have any writing rituals?
Nope. Not one. Maybe I need some.

  1. What other projects do you have for the New Year?
Thanks for the memories – The Woodruff Christmas Novella
Reft- a completely new book
& beyond… - Jason’s POV
Damn – a standalone novel

  1. Coffee, Tea, or Soda?
Dr. Pepper and occasionally a Starbucks Cinnamon Dolce or Gingerbread Latter.

  1. What is a fun day for you?
Hanging out with my family doing fun trips, like right now we’re in the car going to see Santa’s Wonderland. I’m doing this interview and the kids are playing on their tablets and we’re listening to Christmas music. Once, we get there it’s just family time. We’re trying to pump Belle up to visit Santa. Last year her visit with the big guy didn’t go so well. But if I gave you the non‑PC answer, it would be to curl up with a book and read without interruption.

  1. Jason Woodruff, Candice's husband in Through Infinity, I fell in love with him and the reviews from other readers all say how much they loved him. Did you realize that he was going to mean so much to your readers?
I would say I was hopeful. He’s very open about what he feels, and he’s loyal. Those are characteristics my husband has and I fell in love with him, so I guess I can understand falling in love with Jason. He’s what I would want if what happened to Candice happened to me.

  1. You’re a new author, can you give any advice to others who are just starting out?
Hire an editor. Invest in your project, but be realistic about it’s potential. Be personable and understanding. Everybody has lives, and most blogs and readers are inundated with request to read books. It’s a slow process. Keep writing. Write, write, write, and write some more.

About S.M. Stryker

S.M. Stryker grew up on a small farm in Oregon with her two brothers. She married her husband 27 years ago. It was important to her to be able to stay at home to raise their four daughters. She wasn't an avid reader, although she always thought her life would make a good book. A few years ago she picked up FSOG and The Crossfire Series and was drawn to the characters; the storylines moved her more than anything. Her life changed at that point, she could relate to the characters and what they had gone through. She devoured books after that, sometimes reading 8-10 books a week, and finding new authors she enjoyed reading. She couldn't be without a book, her IPad or IPhone anything that she could download her kindle app onto. Knowing she had always wanted to write but kept putting it off, she emailed a few of her favourite authors that gave her some very good advice. So she finally went for it.

REVIEW 4 STARS The final book of the Deverell Series A good ending to Varian and Merry's story, this is not your typical romance story, given it's historical I loved the fresh take on it. At times you get so frustrated with both of these characters, they are such passionate people. There are a lot of questions answered in this final book. Varian is still hell bent on revenge and Merry is dealing with them being with her family and her pregnancy. The two still have a love hate relationship with one another but it's a lot of passion.

COVER REVEAL: Fighting Silence By Aly Martinez

Blurb
Sound is an abstract concept for most people. We spend our lives blocking out the static in order to focus on what we believe is important. But what if, when the clarity fades into silence, it's the obscure background noise that you would give anything to hold on to?

I've always been a fighter. With parents who barely managed to stay out of jail and two little brothers who narrowly avoided foster care, I became skilled at dodging the punches life threw at me. Growing up, I didn’t have anything I could call my own, but from the moment I met Eliza Reynolds, she was always mine. I became utterly addicted to her and the escape from reality we provided each other. Throughout the years, she had boyfriends and I had girlfriends, but there wasn't a single night that I didn’t hear her voice.

You see, meeting the love of my life at age thirteen was never part of my plan. However, neither was gradually going deaf at the age of twenty-one.

They both happened anyway.

FIGHTING SILENCE Cover Reveal Excerpt

"That wasn't yours to take away," he exploded into the otherwise silent night. His words echoed off the surrounding buildings, each wave slicing me to the quick all over again. "That was our place. Not yours." His voice cracked right alongside my heart.
"Yeah, well, there was a lot of stuff that wasn't yours to take either." I held his gaze, desperately trying to be strong, but as his eyes grew wide, I whimpered.
His long legs strode forward, stopping only inches away from me. He was crowding me, but he still leaned in closer to my face. "There is nothing in this world that was ever more mine than you," he stated. Though it was the absolute truth, I wished with all my heart that it were a lie.
"Till," I cried, swiping the tears from my eyes.
"Why!" he shouted, causing his muscles to tense under the force. "Goddamn it! I needed that place."
Porch lights flashed on from the surrounding apartments, illuminating not only the dark but also my rage.
I shoved my hands into his chest. "What about what I needed? You left! I waited in that fucking apartment for weeks."
He didn't budge, but my bare feet slipped, sending me toward the ground. Impossibly fast, Till's hand snaked out and caught my arm. I didn't let his chivalrous gesture douse my fire. I had six months’ worth of words to say to the man I was irrevocably in love with.
"You took what you wanted. Then you left me."
"Doodle," he whispered.
I had been perilously close to the edge of insanity, and with one single word, he’d pushed me over. I lost it completely.
Pounding my fists against his chest, I screamed at the top of my lungs, "It's Eliza! My name is fucking Eliza! Not Doodle!" I spun to march away, but Till's arms folded around me, lifting me off my feet to restrain me.
I was miniscule compared to him. There was no use in fighting, but I still kicked my legs, irrationally desperate to get away from him—but only because I knew I couldn't keep him for forever.
"Stop it!" he growled into my ear. "I know your Goddamn name—probably better than I know my own."
